Life without love is incomplete.
1 Corinthians chapter 13 is the famous love chapter of the New Testament.
Nearly 2000 years after it was first written, its description of love has inspired the creation of some of the most beautiful songs, poetry, and artwork ever made. It has proven itself timeless. It defines love as being: “patient... kind... not jealous, or boastful, or proud, or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
And although life is incomplete without love, reading the description of love in Corinthians can seem both daunting and convicting. For, the Biblical vision of love in our relationships is not meant to be admired from afar but pursued in the present. Love is meant to be expansive beyond our imaginations and with the help of Jesus this expansion of our capacity to love becomes possible. Jesus delimits our love.
In this series, we will explore the real rhythms of love (relationships, singleness, sex, family) and discover wisdom, practical advice, and the offer of a changed heart found in Paul’s relevant letter to the Corinthians.
