The Bible captures an epic story. It is full of drama, romance, actions, and redemption. It is God’s story. And throughout its pages, is a cast of colossal figures that are still featured in films, analyzed in the academy, and sources of inspiration. For instance, Moses who liberated a nation from injustice of slavery, Rahab the harlot who became Rahab the heroine, Esther who thwarted a genocide, and David a forgotten child who became a poet-warrior-King. All these figures in the Bible seem almost unattainably larger than life.

But these figures are not the only ones that played pivotal roles in driving forward the story of a God who is resolute in rescuing and saving humanity; there are Hidden Figures in their midst. These Hidden Figures are the underestimated, underrated, and undervalued cast members of God’s epic story.

Today, many of us feel like the hidden figures of our own contexts. Unseen by others at work, school, or at home. We shall discover, together that Hidden Figures are not only seen, but that God delights in working with them in beautiful and meaningful ways to impact the world while undergoing personal transformation.

The Hidden Figures of the Bible teach us a critical lesson: we may feel unseen to others but we are truly seen by God.
